Though Type 38 Rifle was an excellent rifle, its small bullet was not enough effective. So, IJA developed Type 99 with 7.7 mm caliber, based on Type 38.

IJA intended to replace Type 38 with Type 99. However, as the Pacific War began before completed its replacing, IJA had to use both types during the war.

The most basically and light anti-aircraft weapon in Japanese army are preciselly these rifle above mentioned.this poses one leg support for shooting from inclined position,your sight poses two horizontal graduations at left or rigth for aiming the aerial objective,combined with very long extension of barrel,for precise distant shoots. the Sniper version also used in some times in similar form too.
