Vassilis Tsitsanis

Vassilis Tsitsanis (Greek Βασίλης Τσιτσάνις January 18, 1915 - January 18, 1984) was a Greek singer and songwriter. He became one of the leading singers of "rebetiko", music which was banned in Greece during his early years, and on the later laika style.

Tsitsanis was born in the city of Trikala in 1915. His best-known songs include:

He died in London, on his sixty- ninth birthday, on January 18, 1984 and was mourned across Greece. His music is still widely listened to in Greece today.
