Plot
During World War II, an American General with full knowledge of the coming D-Day landing in Normandy falls into German hands after his plane is shot down. A special team of commandos, led by Major John Smith (Richard Burton) and Lieutenant Morris Schaffer (Clint Eastwood) is assembled to invade the castle where the General is held and rescue him. Aided by a mysterious British female agent, Mary Elison (Mary Ure), the team begins infiltrating the German compound. Soon, however, it becomes apparent that things are not as they seem and there is an ulterior purpose to the mission.
