Yuchi
The Yuchi, also spelled Euchee and Uchee, are a Native American Indian tribe originally living in the eastern Tennessee River valley in Tennessee, northern Georgia and northern Alabama. Their own name for themselves is Tsoyaha - "Children of the Sun". Their population plummeted in the 18th century due to foreign diseases and war with the Cherokee, and in the early 19th century they were "removed" along with the Muscogee people to Oklahoma. The Yuchi are currently a tribe within a tribe, and are pursuing their political independence from the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma.
The Yuchi language is a linguistic isolate, unrelated to any other known Native American tongue.
